2020 Telluride Performance

Kia’s new Telluride is the Korean company’s biggest SUV yet. Initially unveiled at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, this premium mid-size SUV has been specially designed for the U.S. market. Its good looks, strong powertrain, luxurious interiors, and an exceptionally equipped interior make it an excellent buy.

All the Telluride variants and there is a plethora of options, come with a front wheel drive and an all wheel drive AWD option. In addition, all the submodels have a powerful Atkinson Cycle LAMBDA II 3.8 liter V6 GDI gas engine, which delivers an output of up to 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, depending on the type of engine you choose. There is also an optional eight-speed automatic transmission up for grabs.

In addition to being Kia’s most powerful SUV, the Telluride is also the most powerful ride in its class. With the optional all wheel drive system, the torque is effectively disbursed between the front and rear wheels. Similarly, based on the driving mode you choose, the power is distributed between the front and rear wheels which helps to deliver enhanced stability and superior traction.

The SUV has six driving modes – AWD Lock, Comfort, Eco, Smart, Snow, and Sport.

·      Eco or Smart modes - all the power is distributed to the front wheels

·      Comfort and Snow modes - 20 percent of the power is sent to the rear

·      Sports mode – 65 percent of the power goes to the front wheels and 35 percent to the rear wheels

·      Lock mode – 50 percent is equally disbursed to the front and rear wheels

So this enables the 2020 Telluride to tow up to a staggering 5,000 pounds.

The Telluride delivers a smooth ride which is comfortable and surprisingly quiet as well given its exceptional power train.

Technology – The SUV is exceptionally well rigged with technology and safety assists. Taking a prominent place in the central cluster is a large 10.25-inch infotainment display that is available on some of the trims. Irrespective of the size of display you choose, all the interfaces have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Upgraded available features include multi-Bluetooth wireless connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, a powerful 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a sixth USB charging port. So you can stay connected while enjoying a safe, comfortable ride in its plush interiors.

An interesting point to note is that the 2020 Telluride has snorkels on the roof, cladding as well as ladders on the sides, which shout out its off-roading capabilities.

So if you are on the lookout for a handsome, tough well-equipped effortless ride to take you places, the new Kia Telluride should be on your shortlist.
