The Kia Forte has been a much-loved car. The 2018 variant received a 4/5 reliability rating from J.D. Power, which is a good score for a subcompact car. With the 2019 model out and on the streets, another Kia Forte model will take the top dog position in the subcompact range. 


The 2019 Kia Forte runs on a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. While the CVT-powered FE trim offers a 27/31 city/highway MPG, the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT)-powered FE variant offers an MPG of 31/41 (city/highway), which is impressive and one of the best-in-class. 

Safety Features of the 2019 Kia Forte

The new 2019 Kia Forte comes with the latest suite of safety features like rear camera display, blind spot collision warning, front collision warning, anti-lock brakes, seat belt pre-tensioners, electronic stability control, front impact airbags, overhead airbags, side impact airbags, Anti-theft & anti-intrusion security system, automatic emergency braking (separate controls for city & highway), pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, hill assist control, rear cross traffic assist, traction control, and daytime running lights. 

The car has also undergone minor tweaks in body styling, and the new 2019 Kia Forte is more streamlined and compact, designed for speed, efficiency, and safety. 

Crash Test Ratings

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have both conducted extensive safety tests and crash tests on the 2019 Kia Forte. The car has received a good rating (the highest rating) from the IIHS for every single crash test performed. The NHTSA has also awarded the 2019 Kia Forte 4/5 stars for its overall safety.
