2019 Niro EV

South Korean automotive giant Kia Motors introduces a new model in its electronic segment – the 2019 Niro EV. How does it perform compared to its siblings?

The 2019 Niro EV certainly looks very classy. It isn’t as boxy as other Kia models. In fact, the Niro can be called a mini SUV-of-sorts, given its elongated design. On the outside, the car has aluminum wheels, LED headlights, and large front grilles – all of which are similar to other Kia models and make the car look premium.

The 2019 Niro EV offers an impressive mileage of 239 miles. It runs on 201 horsepower and offers 291 lb-ft torque. The car is powered by a 356-volt 64.0 kWh battery, which is way more powerful than the old 30 kWh battery. The same specs can be found on its next-in-line cousin - the 2020 Kia Soul EV.

Driving comfort
When compared to the Hyundai Kona, the 2019 Niro EV offers much lesser wheelspin. Additionally, it has a geared dial and not a shift, which can take time to get used to. Despite this, the Niro is significantly more spacious and as a result a much better drive. The headroom and legroom are much better than other models, making this car a joy to sit in. The car is also relatively quiet, despite having the low hum that accompanies all-electric cars.

On the inside, the 2019 Kia Niro looks like a spaceship – there are just so many buttons. There is a digital gauge cluster on the dashboard that provides various stats designed for electric drive. The car has a USB port and a phone charging port pre-installed. The Niro is also integrated with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and UVO e-services. The car comes installed with premium Bose or Harman Kardon stereo with an amazing surround sound. In terms of trimmings, premium variants come with leather interiors. The cargo space is great too - better than other Kia models in the same segment. In terms of safety, the 2019 Kia Niro has performed well in crash tests and comes with a full suite of safety technology. Book your 2019 Niro EV in Durham, NC.
