Syncing your garage door with your 2025 Kia Telluride is a small upgrade that adds a big dose of convenience to your everyday routine. With the built-in HomeLink® system, you can open and close your garage door right from your SUV—no remote needed. Here’s your easy-to-follow guide from the team at University Kia.

What You’ll Need Before You Start

Before you begin syncing, gather the following:

  • Your 2025 Kia Telluride (powered on, but in Park)

  • Your current garage door opener remote

  • A ladder (if needed to access your garage door motor)

  • Someone to assist you, if available—it’s easier with two!

Step 1: Locate the HomeLink Buttons

Look for the HomeLink® buttons on the overhead console (usually located near your rearview mirror). You’ll see three buttons labeled with dots—these can be programmed for your garage door, gate, or other home automation systems.

Step 2: Clear Previous Settings (Optional)

If this is your first time using HomeLink or you're replacing an old garage door code, it's best to clear out any existing programming.

To clear previous settings:

  1. Press and hold the first and third HomeLink buttons at the same time.

  2. Hold for about 10–20 seconds until the indicator light starts flashing.

  3. Release the buttons—your HomeLink is now reset.

Step 3: Program the HomeLink Button

Now, it’s time to sync the system with your garage door remote.

To program:

  1. Hold your garage door remote about 1–3 inches from the HomeLink buttons.

  2. Press and hold both the chosen HomeLink button and your remote’s button at the same time.

  3. Hold until the indicator light changes from a slow blink to a rapid blink—this can take up to 30 seconds.

Step 4: Sync with the Garage Door Opener (If Needed)

Most newer garage door systems use a rolling code, which adds an extra layer of security. If this applies to your system, you’ll need to do a few extra steps.

To sync rolling code systems:

  1. Locate the “Learn” or “Smart” button on your garage door opener (usually on the back of the motor unit).

  2. Press the Learn button—an indicator light should turn on.

  3. Within 30 seconds, return to your Telluride and press the programmed HomeLink button 3–5 times until the garage door responds.

Step 5: Test and Enjoy!

Try pressing your newly programmed button. Your garage door should open or close—hands-free and hassle-free.

If it doesn’t work the first time, try the Learn button step again. Some systems require multiple attempts before the sync is complete.
